Has anyone else noticed the similarities between Lady Gaga’s “Dance in the Dark” and Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit”?

Both songs start off talking about a girl in third person: “She’s over-bored and self-assured” and “She won’t walk away, but she won’t look back. She looks good but her boyfriend says she’s a mess.”

Both mention mouths: “And I forget just why I taste, oh yeah, I guess it makes me smile” and “run run her kiss is a vampire grin.”

With that said, both feature blood sucking creatures: “A mosquito” and “vampire grin… she’s a vamp.”

Both mention being bad at what they’re good at: “I’m worse at what I do best and for this gift I feel blessed” and “Now the girl is stressed… cause when he’s looking, she falls apart. She’s a tramp… but she still kills the dance.”

Both speak of friends who are like them: “Our little group has always been and always will until the end” and “Marilyn, Judy, Sylvia… ‘Benet Ramsey… Liberace… Jesus… Kubrick…. Diana you’re still in our hearts.”

And, most notably, both are about having sex in the dark: “With the lights out, it’s less dangerous. Here we are now, entertain us.” and “Baby loves to dance in the dark.”
